Poems by Gabe Kassery

Eroded Utopia

From city to city

and town upon town

Aged flags with a stale morality sway emotionless

Faded Red, Washy blue, and shallow white

paint ethics on a canvas of flesh and bone

An eagle flys low for her old wings be tattered and scarred

She soars lower than the flag poles

From the coast, to the cities, through the blood red forests

Gliding above the gulf stream waters, along valleys, across highways

She lays her eggs, to ever continue the Eroded Utopia

Aftermath

WAR! Fought year by year

After its all over people only cheer.

Yet death and loss decay the battlefield

The worst that is caused is instantly concealed.

Succeeding in war is nothing but an excuse of how much you've failed

In the rage of their own blood the souls' voiceless screams echo

In the hearts of their perpetrators rotting and derailed.

Knowing how their blood flows the people who help slowly disappear

Then the machine spits lies to simply sound sincere.

Ghosts of loved ones haunt you as you try to diminish the loss from your mind

When over the horizon a new threat appears and makes you run blind.

You scream and yell, but no one hears...You flail and fall, but no one's around

The only thing anyone can do is watch as you, friends, and families

Fall into chaos...yet the machine feeds from this and gains control and power.

The machine does however fear your actions and voices.

But, you also fear...fear what they may do, upon you

Yet they're helpless against someone who sparks a fire.

Something Lurks over the hill of the aftermath...It's coming back again.

Greed

Causing innocent blood to flow

Entire culture, lost in the overthrow

They came to seize and take whatever they please

Then all they gave back was death and disease

People were left with no choice but to decide

To conform to a system, responsible for genocide,

Responsible for genocide

Responsible for genocide...

AIDS is killing the entire African nation

And a vaccine is still supposedly under preparation

But these governments they don't mind the procrastination

They say "We'll kill them off, take their land and go there for vacation.

Lying upon actions they're still responsible for genocide,

Responsible for genocide

Responsible for genocide...

Taken from the breath of the mothering

Turned to gold with the lives of the suffering

People never picked up or helped when they fall

Thrown aside like trash on the side of a bloody dirt-filled wall,

still responsible for genocide

Responsible for genocide

Responsible for genocide...

People at their last will making profit on the borders of laws
