Interview by Marlee Breakstone
Phoenix: What do you plan to do as the newly elected class president?
Heather: As the newly elected president, I plan to organize fundraisers, dances, and other events that will bring our freshman class together to bond and show tons of school spirit.
Phoenix: What kind of work will you have to do to succeed?
Heather: To succeed I plan to ask my fellow classmates what they feel should be included in our freshman year, and take their thoughts and opinions into consideration when planning activities that we can all enjoy.
Phoenix: What other activities are you involved in at PHS?
Heather: I am the captain of the freshman girls’ volleyball team. I am also in the interact club and the ecology club. I am the treasurer in the PAWS club and a member of FCCLA.
Phoenix: What is your favorite subject at school?
Heather: I actually cannot say I have a favorite subject at school because I feel like they are all special in their own ways and that they will all help me at some point during my life. There is no subject I put above the other.
Phoenix: What made you want to be the president?
Heather: I wanted to be president because I feel that I can make a positive difference in our class. I won’t make decisions based on myself. Instead, I’ll base them off of what the whole class feels we need.
Phoenix: How can other freshmen get involved in the class government?
Heather: Every freshman can get involved in the class government by whichever way they feel most comfortable doing. They can actually join student government and help out with planning and organizing activities, or they can simply just voice their opinions. There are plenty of ways to get involved.
