Demetria Lovato, after being away from the public eye for quite some time, has recently released her first album since her recovery. At the age of nineteen, this star sought help for personal problems. Some say it was drug abuse, but this rumor is false. Demi was bullied as a child. This did not cease as she rose to stardom. She tried to deal with it, but being a teenager in the spotlight was hard enough, and after some messy relationships, Demi couldn’t handle it anymore. She began cutting herself and had breakdowns. Now that all of this is behind the star, she is back and ready to get back into her music career. As news about the album’s release circulated, many people doubted her potential as a serious musician. I believe that, once you hear one song on the album, you’re hooked. When “Skyscraper” released it was her first top 10 debut on the Billboard 100, and stayed as number ten. The powerful song speaks of her self-injuring habits, her ongoing battle with bulimia, and how she will rise above it all. Her album, Unbroken, demonstrates an R&B and soul kind of feel. Some memorable songs on the album are “Fix A Heart” and “For the Love of A Daughter.” In her song “Fix A Heart,” you can almost feel the pain she’s going through with all of her problems. When Demi says “You never really can fix my heart,” she really seems to speak to people. “For the Love of A Daughter” brings some to tears to the eyes of anyone who listens to it. The album is absolutely mind-blowing and anyone who has underestimated Demi Lovato is extremely mistaken. Her voice has such a high rich range that any song of hers is enjoyable to listen to. This album really showcases how seriously she is taking her musical career. I’d recommend listening to this album because it’s honestly fantastic. I wasn’t expecting this from her. Yet, after listening, you can tell that there is much more to come from such a young and talented artist.
