Mrs. Jennifer Jackson, a Pomperaug math teacher and girls’ varsity basketball coach, was recently charged with two counts of procuring alcohol for minors and second-degree reckless endangerment. Officer Bette began an investigation and released an affidavit, reportedly after hearing that Jackson had given alcohol to students at the senior semi -formal dance. In the affidavit, he stated that he “advised Lorrie Rodrigue about the incident” and that “[she] was already in the process of doing her own investigation.”

According to the Republican-American, the administration had already begun its investigation after hearing that Mrs. Jackson “would discuss her personal life in class.” The affidavit states that according to various witnesses, Mrs. Jackson has had numerous incidents involving alcohol: She reportedly offered to take a student out to drink; allegedly delivered vodka to students; purportedly brought vodka to an event in a Dunkin Donuts cup and passed it around to various people; and is claimed to have once been drinking before coaching a basketball game. According to the affidavit, assistant coach Carla Zinno stated that she had witnessed some of these incidents and confronted Mrs. Jackson when she overheard her offering to give alcohol to students before the semi-formal dance. Ms. Zinno reportedly also stated that Mrs. Jackson had once told her that she had been drinking before a game, “acting like it was cool.”

In Officer Bette’s affidavit he stated that he believed “That there is probable cause that the accused, Jennifer Jackson… committed the crime of Procuring Alcohol to Minors… and it is requested an arrest warrant be issued for the accused.” Jackson was issued an arrest warrant, released on $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on June 9, after the Phoenix goes to print.
